March For Monarchs
Description
The Houston Botanic Garden’s March for Monarchs will take participants on a journey from Mexico to the Northern United States, as they follow the route of the monarch butterflies’ northern migration, to their summer breeding grounds. Along the way they will face challenges and obstacles, and receive rewards. At each station, they will learn everyday things they can do to help protect monarchs on their long journey. The event will culminate with a backyard celebration, welcoming the monarchs to their Northern breeding grounds. There will be food, crafts, games, and info on how to make YOUR backyard a wonderful home for monarchs.
Participants will leave with a new understanding of the amazing journey these iconic insects complete, as well as a native milkweed plant to start their own backyard haven for monarchs.
